Marketing Roundup for November 14 – 18, 2011

Is it the end of the week already? That’s exciting and scary all at the same time! I cannot believe the holidays are almost upon us. Are you ready for turkey and black Friday? By the way – this is a total aside but it’s Friday and my brain is not on a linear path – if the holidays scare you because you’re kitchen-challenged like me, you have to check out From Ma Cuisine. Her adorable videos have actually inspired me to try cooking a whole chicken, which, if you know my skills, is almost a holiday miracle!

But, if you’re in still in denial about the holidays, you can always just read these articles (none of them are holiday related!) and pretend they’re not happening.

This week I stumbled on some pretty great stuff. First of all, I was featured in an article in Young, Fabulous and Self-employed magazine! (Well, I didn’t really stumble  on this one, they told me about it. But saying I stumbled on it sounds a little less like bragging, so I’m trying it out.) The mag asked 30 business owners the superpower they’d most like. My choice – teleportation. Check it out, I’m #27!

I also found these articles that other people wrote that I liked almost as much as the ones that talk about me…

The Zappos Guide to Mobile Website Design
I like to try and bring you information about mobile websites whenever possible, and since Zappos is one of my brand idols, this is a great fit! As small business owners, it’s scary to think about undertaking this kind of project. But, as more and more consumers are using mobile devices to search the Internet, we need to make our sites accessible to them. Hopefully this article will get you thinking.

Busting the 10 Biggest Small Business Myths
“If the customer was always right, every company would be out of business!” This article cuts through all of those anecdotes we’ve all heard and gets right to the heart of what matters.

What Your Favorite Websites Would Look Like as Magazines
I’m adding this one because I thought it was pretty funny!

I like these tips because they’re easy to implement. We all want people to engage with us (that’s why we do this, right) so make it as easy for them as possible with these 5 tips.
